Rustico Pio Filippo
About Us
The Becchino family has owned the farmhouse located in Spigno Monferrato in the Canavella Soprana Region since the early 19th century. Becchino Pio, who lived in the second half of the 19th century, built the farmhouse which was inherited by his son Luigi at the beginning of the 1900s, a professional merchant and married to Ottolia Angela. Pio Filippo, son of Angela and Luigi, renovated the building from 1960 to 1970 with the support of his wife Bona. Since the beginning of 2000, the last generation of the family, Luigi Filippo and subsequently Filippo Maria, have managed and looked after the farm.

It is divided into two bodies: a residential one currently used by the family, the other, Rustico Pio Filippo, intended for guests. For all those who love nature, relaxation, and outdoor activities. For those looking for colours, rural scents and uncontaminated nature. The structure is part of the Terra Nostra project, a national association for agritourism and environmentalist Coldiretti.

The History of Spigno Monferrato
Spigno Monferrato is a small village located in Piedmont in Northern Italy in the Province of Alessandria. Its history has its roots in antiquity, with traces of human settlements dating back to Roman times. During the Middle Ages the territory of Spigno M.to was disputed by various noble families, including the Marquises of Monferrato. Over the centuries it was the scene of conflicts, alliances and dominations that characterized the Medieval and Renaissance periods in Italy. Spigno was dominated by the House of Savoy and its territories were important resources for the house thanks to the flourishing agricultural crops. During the 20th century we witnessed the birth of businesses and industries that contributed to the growth of the community. Spigno is currently immersed in the Monferrato hills and close to the Langhe, it is a quiet town surrounded by a landscape characterized by gullies, renowned for its rich food and wine tradition. The territory is part of an area of municipalities that are recognized as sites of cultural interest (SCI) - Natura 200. The specific interest is linked to the characteristic flora, flowering meadows, shrubs, chestnut groves and aromatic herbs.
